In the company of the Idler’s editor Tom Hodgkinson and Idler Academy director Victoria Hull we’ll explore ideas of spiritual intelligence that can help us flourish. We’ll learn about about Idler heroes Socrates, Rumi and Aldous Huxley. We’ll see some of the very greatest Renaissance art. We’ll do yoga, read, walk, loaf and feast together. There will be walks in the Umbrian hills and trips to local medieval towns.
We’ll visit local orchards and see the biodiverse collection of fruits historically grown in Umbria. We’ll visit a village smallholder and taste the produce she traditionally preserves and stores in her home cantina.
There’ll also be plenty of time for doing nothing.
The Idler Spring Retreat 2026 takes place at Villa Pia on the Umbria/Tuscany border.
You’ll go home with new inspiration and great ideas, having had a lot of fun into the bargain.
