This will be fun, if you're free...
Words, Words, Words at Selfridges, London
Including:
Greek Philosophy: Thursday 19 January 6.30pm – 7.30pm
In this enthralling class, author and philsopher Dr Mark Vernon will teach the basics of Greek philosophy. You will learn who Socrates was and what he taught, as well as get the low-down on the philosophical schools that followed him: the Stoics, Epicureans, Sceptics and Cynics. You'll also gain an insight into everyday life and politics in Ancient Athens, and how the dialogues of Ancient Greece are strikingly relevant to issues that concern us today.

Sounds great. I'm definitely coming!
How about visiting Bristol, Liverpool, etc?
Was there a school of philosophers called the comics?
I imagine it isn't about money. It does a bit more about laziness. Laziness about being a "soul". For instance: today I assisted to a concert of chamber music. A trio. They were correct, sometimes even better than correct. They showed they could use their souls, but they didn't use it all the time. It's easier to get in a routine than all the time "be there". It's easier to make money than to build every instant our soul.
Re the Greeks: Just wanted to mention that a fascinating book I've just read, Through the Language Glass, finally explains why Homer called sheep purple and honey green.
And the sea's not really wine-dark.
it was very enjoyable indeed
thanks

Hi Mark
Are you speaking at Selfridges on Sunday . If so what time does it start and finish and do you need tickets?
Best Wishes
Kevin Matthews.
Yup - 1pm. Don't think there's need for tickets.
